This morning, TVK2, or TVK-Education, a new channel of the state-owned National Television of Kampuchea (TVK), began its broadcast trial.

While schools across the country have been closed to prevent and restrict the spread of COVID-19, TVK2, a collaboration between the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), aims to encourage distance learning and e-learning.

It offers students in kindergarten through grade 12 round-the-clock distance learning programs in important subjects.

At the ministry’s weekly meeting this morning, H.E. Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information, stated, “This is a great achievement of our ministry in this mission.”
According to H.E. Minister, in the first phase, TVK2 will broadcast videos already produced by the MoEYS, and in the second phase, it will collaborate with the MoEYS to create new videos using advanced production techniques.

Students can access distant learning programs via satellite DTV (Channel 22), the Ministry of Information’s App, and all provincial and municipal cable TVs in addition to TVK2.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Preparation, Production, and Broadcasting of Distance Learning and E-Learning Programs was signed on April 8 by the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Education and Youth Services.

The goal of the MoU is to provide students at all levels across the country with equitable, high-quality, and effective education services via distance learning during the school closure period, as well as to improve the preparation and execution of an e-learning system.
